The Chepang are an indigenous ethnic group of Nepal, regarded as one of the oldest communities of the country. They were semi-nomadic traditionally and lived in temporary huts and followed subsistence activities like hunting and fishing and shifting cultivation. They also practiced tree and forest worship for protection from natural disasters. In the purview of history, the Chepang have always been marginalized, and they belong to the group of "untouchables". They have been historically suffering from poverty, ill-health and lack of opportunities.

Today, most Chepang have turned to settled agriculture: they grow maize and millet and raise livestock; but nomadic practices still endure. Despite these changes still suffer from poverty, health and hygiene problems. Nonetheless, they are slowly transitioning to modernization, and the potential for socioeconomic development exists for information technology.

They have donated stationery and notebooks to Chepang students in association with Every Student Has the Right to Write, Learn, and Create (Dinesh Mangaru, Netai Mangaru, Binod Baral) to support their educational growth. At the same time, it's a great encouragement to learning, creativity and writing skills and bringing them further in their academic journeys.
